Cecil Hotel

The Cecil Hotel is a 5-story, 89 unit, single-room-occupancy residence located in Harlem. The facility is owned by Housing and Services Inc. and provides permanent supportive housing for low income tenants. The building underwent a complete renovation while remaining at 50% occupancy throughout the project.

Exterior work on this Landmarked building consisted of the installation of a new roof, the re-building of a faux balcony & cornice, the complete restoration of the brick & limestone façade and the replacement of over 300 windows.

A floor by floor phasing was required as we rotated occupants temporarily to install all new finishes meeting fire code regulations. Mechanical upgrades were needed for the electrical system, sprinkler system, fire alarm system, new lighting package, a new modular boiler and renovations of all bathrooms and pantries. To complete the project a new shaft and elevator was built next to the existing one. The Cecil now operates at 100% capacity.
