Kel-Mar served as general contractor for the interior renovation of this eclectic specialty boutique in Tribeca. The goal was to create a space that would accommodate Arte de Maison’s assorted merchandise – including distinctive home furnishings, accessories and gifts – while also serving as a local spot for lunch, coffee or dessert. Kel-Mar modified the loading dock of this old warehouse, built in the late 1800’s, to create a new storefront and entrance, allowing natural light into the space, and reducing electrical costs. The architects’ unique design incorporated an industrial theme that required re-demising the space, and the installation of a new ornamental steel and concrete stair. This work necessitated chopping through the slab and reinforcing structural members. Other work included a new commercial kitchen and food prep area to support the retail sales of the panini and espresso bar; as well as leather wrapped columns, custom cabinetry, new bathrooms and vestibules.
