Marian Shrine

Architect:

Andy LaCpmbe AIA

Kel-Mar competitively bid, value engineered and eventually negotiated a GMP to build this new gift store and administration office for the Marian Shrine – a part of the Roman Catholic Salesians Order. Despite limited resources, this new facility was constructed with a detailed brick veneer exterior, block backup and load-bearing walls that support a steel framed roof system. Site improvement consisted of revamped storm water management, landscaping and roadway/ parking paving. New services – including domestic water, sprinkler and electric – were brought into the building. The new sprinkler service required extensive excavation and site restoration; it was brought in from the local street located a mile away from the building. Interior work included solid core doors with a brick arch detail at all door openings, matching the exterior arched windows. In addition, Kel-Mar provided acoustical ceilings; and wood, ceramic and carpeted flooring. New mechanicals included oil-fired boilers for perimeter baseboard heat and air-conditioning.
